Edinburgh Bhangra Crew perform at a range of events throughout the year and run bi-weekly dance classes open to anyone no matter how much experience they have. 2017 marks Edinburgh Bhangra Crew’s 10th year anniversary and performing at Edinburgh Mela is a great way for the Crew to kick off their year of celebrations!

Circus Raj are an elite set of street performers from Rajasthan, dancers, illusionists, aerialists, acrobats and rope walkers, with eye-watering displays by their fakir, they present a colourful, vibrant, fast-moving extravaganza of intrigue, drama, feats of daring, music, laughter and surprise.

Sher Yar KhanSher Yar Khan comes from a classical background and has made a huge impact on the British Asian music scene in a very short space of time. He is comfortable in all genres from Bhangra to Bollywood to Pakistani folk to Classical. He has created his own unique style which can genuinely be described as cross-over. His solo single is ready for release.

Orkestra del Sol’s explosive reinvention of global brass band music has captured imaginations since their formation in 2004. The swagger of a Balkan wedding band and the rebellious energy of Latin carnival are ever-present, as well as flavours from Bollywood to Havana to the sassy street bands of New Orleans – all put into the mix with a host of colourful characters and given the exuberant Orkestra del Sol treatment.

In less than 10 years, Sona Walia has established herself as one of the leading female bhangra artists in the world, certainly the most successful residing outside of India. Sona’s set consists of dancers, dhol players, colourful costumes, and a high energy, fully choreographed performance. She won the title of best female artist in the BritAsia music awards for two consecutive years, 2013 & 2014. This year, she released Nainaan de theke which hit 1 million views in 10 days.

Rafaqat Ali KhanRafaqat Ali Khan was born into a Sham Chaurasia gharana (house of musical heritage) to Nazakat Ali Khan. He has performed to audiences around the world and was the first ever Pakistani singer to perform at the Oslo opera house for 3 consecutive days. With a career that spans over two decades, he has released a total of eleven albums, and earned widespread acclaim as playback singer on Krrish, Dhokha and Youngistaan. Rafaqat Ali Khan brings his own brand of music and energy to his classical performances and is a mesmerising performer to behold.
