The King of Ghosts

[php snippet=3]

Date: Fri 29th August

Location: Leith Links

Time: 7pm

A special collaboration between the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and rising world music star Soumik Datta, The King of Ghosts is a brand new piece of music inspired by the classic 1969 Indian art house film Gupi Gayen, Bagha Bayen, by Oscar-winning director Satyajit Ray.

The piece weaves Indian folk rhythms, rich orchestral textures and pulsing electronic beats into a gorgeous, atmospheric experience, as scenes from the film are projected above the musicians and the audience is transported into a fairytale.

Part of Homecoming Scotland and Culture 2014, The King of Ghosts will be performed live by Datta, multi-award-winning percussionist Cormac Byrne, and a 25-piece orchestra from SCO.
